It is always easy to point fingers when there is something wrong with us. We mostly blame either another person or a situation for the wrong that is happening to us. But when fortune favors us, we conveniently forget to look beyond us!! That’s a human tendency. In any of these situations, what happens to us may or may not be in our control but how we respond to the situation is most important!! That is where “our mind” comes into the picture. After all, mind is the seat of all our thoughts, feelings, emotions, perceptions, beliefs which in turn get reflected in our behaviors! So, if we seek change in our behavior, we need to work on our mind, isn’t it??

Earlier, we were told that we should take care of our body in order to stay fit and healthy. So, we consumed good food, started exercising and also paid attention that our body gets proper rest. As a result, we attained a state of physical health. There was not much consideration for mental health, and it didn’t matter much then. But soon, the scene changed. And the life which earlier used to be a journey to be experienced and enjoyed turned into a mad race just to grab whatever lucrative comes in our way. This race, which is now an integral part of our existence, has robbed us of not just physical but mental health as well! So, now we need good food, exercise and rest not just for our body but for our mind too. Just as we had doctors treating our organs like heart, liver, lungs, we have now doctors for our mind too! Of course, doctors help us treating our diseases, but it is our duty to take care of our body and mind to prevent the diseases.

This blog will focus on the “mind matters” as we know that the mind matters!! To take proper care of our mind, we need to understand our thoughts, feelings and emotions. And believe me, this is really interesting. After I started studying Psychology, I learnt that it is a vast and deep sea of knowledge and just one dive in this sea is not enough. So, let us together start this voyage. Here, I would write about the different facets of mind and psychology and also discuss about how to work on self-improvement to lead a happy and fulfilling life. I firmly believe that ” Change is the only constant.” and moreover this quote by Rumi, ” Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself” perfectly depicts what real change is all about. So, let’s begin with change in “I” because when each one of us learns to be happy, the world would be a happier place to be!!
